Fat’s Fat - Weights Weight!

In one of my earliest posts I talked about the importance of your meals and their impact on your results in the gym. I suggested that you refrain from using the word “diet” because it is often viewed as a temporary solution to a long term problem. You know as well as I do: you’re better then that! You work too hard for something temporary and you want these results to last.

Solution: try focusing less on insignificant diets and more on the Life Style idea.

“Life Style? You mean like the condom? Why would you capitalize it like that?”

Oops! My bad… well you should use those too, but I was leaning more along the lines of healthy living as opposed to dieting. The focus of a “good” diet [which is as close to an oxymoron as you can get] is simple: keep the hormones balanced enough to effectively lose body weight. I’m going to be so bold to say there are very few things that are more beneficial to a healthy meal plan, and effectively dropping one's body weight percentage then the consumption of [good] fats.

“That’s debatable, Fat’s fat, man! And this body definitely does not need anymore monoglycerides”

Aw your first multi-syllable word, how cute. HOWEVER, if fat’s fat. That means weights, weight; I don’t know about you, but a healthy 185lbs person looks nothing like an unhealthy 185lbs person – or at least not to me.

“So you’re telling me that in order to become healthier and lose weight, I need more fat in my diet? What if I’m big boned?”

I’m sorry, in your what?

“… My meal plan – Whatever!”

Well, for starters your “big bones” are not to blame for your obesity, your laziness is!

Call my bluff?

Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, let’s get back to the topic at hand. Some of the [good] fats that you eat are considered building blocks of a very important group of hormones called Eicosanoids [Relax I know it’s a big word and it’s pronounced; “eye-co-san-oid”]. Eicosanoids are basically the puppet master of your body. They are the hormones that manipulate everything from you suffering a heart attack to the strength of your immune system. They can even determine whether you have inflammation in your joints or where [& when] you suffer from aches and pain.

The following is a list of differences between Good Fats and Bad Fats;

GOOD FATS:

Act as vasodilators (open up blood vessels)
Strengthens immune system
Reduce risk of asthma, arthritis, Alzheimer’s
Decrease inflammation
Decrease pain
Increase oxygen flow
Increase endurance

BAD FATS:

Act as vasoconstrictors (pollutes blood vessels)
Suppresses immune system
Increases risk of cellular cancer
Increase inflammation
Decrease endurance
Constrict airways (asthma)
Increase pain
Decrease oxygen flow

So going back to your extremely “uneducated” comment [fat’s fat], Please stand corrected because no matter who you are or what you do for a living, ALL OF US need to incorporate the proper amount of [good] fat into our meals; not only for weight loss but your overall health depends on it.

So in the words of my good friend White Goodman of the movie Dodgeball:

“At Globo Gym we understand that "ugliness" and "fatness" are genetic disorders, much like baldness or necrophilia, and it's only your fault if you don't hate yourself enough to do something about it.”
